Note from foster-mom 3/26/2008:         Gandalf is Gandalf *laughs*
A nicer, less intimidating horse you could not ever hope for.  ......... He's been eating really well, and I hope he starts to fill out soon.
He really is very thin still.  He digests his food well, though.  No trouble chewing and his poos are well masticated.
Every once in a while, he'll actually trot a bit while playing with Grampy, so his legs can't be at their worst.  He must have suffered some abrasions or
what not on the feed lot, since he's now had some scabs come off of his rear, side, and his left ear, leaving some ugly patches, you know how lovely those look on white horses.
Anyway, you can see how thin he is, and that his front legs are knobby.  Since he's been here, he's been blowing his winter coat, and the real extent
of his thinness has become clearer since he's not as fuzzy.

Note from foster-mom 7/31/2008: He's put on a little more weight.  His ribs don't show near as much now as before.  He still looks thin, but to some degree, I know part of that is just his age.  The summer weather has been suiting him well, he grazes along all day with the Grampy and is very good about his daily routines now.  He very happily lets my daughter brush and groom him, and when he sees any of us come outside, he will come up to the fence to have a look.  He continues to just be a very quiet and gentle horse, a very nice companion horse.
....  I really do feel he should be companion only.  Just a very sweet old man who really likes the retired lifestyle.
