PERMANENT and FOSTER HOMES (long- & short-term) - NATIONWIDE
Even though we were forced to close our big barn-doors, a little side door always remains open for horses in need. Currently there are several drafts and non-drafts in need of adoptive homes. Please find them here: AT A GLANCE
We currently have 8 horses here at LHR in SD, but we only have enough hay to feed 3-4 horses through the entire winter. And the way this winter has been going, the hay supply is dwindling much faster than anticipated, so we have to find homes for 4 of the horses here ASAP......
We also have several horses in short-term foster-homes in different States, and those horses need to find permanent homes as well. The sooner these horses get adopted, the sooner we can help other horses in need. So with every horse adopted, another horse can be saved.....
UPDATE: GEORGE seems to have deeper rooted issues and needs a committed home that has experience with understanding, handling and training severely abused draft horses. The sooner he gets the help and home he so desperately needs, the better...... GEORGE and VALHALLA are now in MO and remain available for adoption, together or seperately. If you are interested in adoption, or if you could help sponsor their daily care at the foster-home, PLEASE contact us right away !!! A huge THANK YOU and BIG HUGS to Pam, their new foster mom, and to everybody for their concerns, support and contributions. More details on their webpages. NEW - LONG-TERM FOSTER / LEASE PROGRAM: We have some permanent residents (and/or horses in rehab) here in SD that would benefit greatly from a different climate, daily handling/attention, training, rehab, etc. For different reasons, we are not willing to adopt them out and transfer ownership (yet), but we would be happy to send them temporarily (long term) to qualified and committed foster-homes so they could get the attention, handling and training they need, and we currently can't offer them. If you are interested to have a horse in your life, and share your home and heart, but aren't able or ready to commit to adoption, this new program might be perfect for you and one of our PERMANENT RESIDENTS / HORSES IN REHAB......
SPONSORS for our permanent residents would be of great help:
ANGEL has seen years and years of use, neglect and starvation. She has been here a while, but still has a lot of issues to deal with (physically and mentally). ANGEL is here at LHR to continue her slow rehabilitation. Any support, sponsorships and donations to help with her day-to-day expenses, care and rehab would be greatly appreciated.....
