Some of our REHAB- / RESIDENT HORSES might be older, un-adoptable and/or have special needs. Those horses don't have to work or do anything else any longer to "earn" their food, care or our love. They have worked and given their all their entire lives, and now it's time for us to give to them..... They have found their SANCTUARY here at LHR and can stay forever, but if a home better than ours comes along, we will consider adopting them out. Their adoption fees and the freed room & resources will help in saving other horses.

VERY, VERY SERIOUS INQUIRIES from EXCELLENT, PERMANENT HOMES will be considered.

PLEASE - do NOT inquire if you can't afford adoption fees, suitable transport to your home, and excellent daily care for the rest of their lives. None of these horses are available to first-time horse owners, boarding situations or to homes w/o pasture.

NEW - LONG-TERM FOSTER / LEASE PROGRAM:

Sometimes we have rehab-/resident horses that would benefit greatly from a warmer climate, more handling/attention, training, rehab, etc. For different reasons, we might not be willing to adopt them out and transfer ownership (yet), but we would be happy to send them temporarily (long term) to qualified and committed foster-homes so they could get the attention, handling and training they need, and we currently can't give them. If you are interested to have a horse in your life, home and heart, but aren't able or ready to commit to adoption, this new program might be perfect for you and one of our PERMANENT RESIDENTS / HORSES IN REHAB....
