Summer-2008 (Yoda is on the very right - he has grown since.)
Due to the high number of inquiries, and due to some unnecessary and uneducated insults, here is more info to clarify this situation:
Yoda was NOT a rescue horse. Actually, he's out of registered parents (even though papers mean nothing to him nor me). He was my own personal horse and I had him since he was a yearling. However, as times got tougher, financial problems got worse (caused by our rescue ventures), so I had to put him up for adoption to raise funds for the rescue. After lots and lots of inquiries, I thought I had found the perfect home for him in CA. He was picked up on 3/18 (the same day Angel died), but sadly, the adopters failed to follow through with his adoption. So Yoda came back home to SD on 7/21. Our financial situation has not improved yet, so he will have to remain available for adoption for now. As far as his adoption fee goes, if you are familiar with drafts like Yoda, you are aware that blue-roan, full draft geldings over 17 hands are very, very rare and are usually sold for a lot more, no matter if trained or not. And in regards to his training (or lack thereof) - Yoda is only 4 years old, and every responsible draft owner knows that a draft horse shouldn't be ridden or driven before they are at least 4-5 years old - the older, the better for their long-term health. More info about that subject here: MATURITY So, if Yoda is your "dreamhorse" and you are seriously interested in adopting him, for what and who he is, and if you think you could give him a perfect forever home, please submit the adoption questionnaire to get started. However, if you can't afford Yoda's adoption fee, or if you are outraged by it for whatever reason, please let's not waste each other's time.... Thank you.
