Hi Gabi; it is with a heavy heart that I write to tell you that we had to let our precious Gandalf cross the Rainbow Bridge on Friday, 11/11/11.  His arthritis had gotten so bad that he could barely get around, despite being at the maximum management dosage of medication.  He was eating 18 pounds of feed daily plus hay and was still not maintaining his weight well.  We were very concerned about how he would fare over the winter.   The vet and farrier agreed that we had done all we could do, and it was the old fellow's time.  His last day was a beautiful, peaceful day, and he got lots of his favorite vanilla cookies.  He is buried next to our other Percheron, Nikko.   Thank you so much for allowing this dignified old man to spend his last years with us.  He was so loved!

Ruth
