UPDATE 5/31/2007 P-L-E-A-S-E H-E-L-P D-A-I-S-Y Before we committed to rescue Daisy, we were told that she was 8-10 years old. Relying on that, Daisy went to a foster home in OR with the possibility of adoption. The Vet at the foster home (who floated her teeth) insists that Daisy is 20+ years old. We are aware that NOBODY can determine a horse's age for sure since factors like sandy soil, diet, environment, bits used while in work, vices, etc. seem to play a big role in the wear and tear of a horse's teeth. However, even though we don't know what to believe right now, based on this new information, everybody involved is shocked, and the foster home is willing to adopt Daisy only if the adoption fee is waived. Or, if they don't adopt her, they would like to get a full refund for her transportation fee (from SD to OR, as agreed prior), plus all Vet and farrier bills, and the cost of her feed...... Our little rescue can't afford either option and couldn't recover from such a big loss, so we are BEGGING for donations towards Daisy's adoption fee and care. We are also looking for somebody who is willing to adopt her, no matter of her true age (which we will never know for sure). Also someone who is willing and able to afford her adoption fee and provide for her proper care for all the years to come. (BTW - with proper care and attention, draft horses can live to a ripe age and can even reach 40 - more info here: DRAFTS' AGE) And to be very clear - her true age is still uncertain, but we want her adopter to be aware of the possibility that she could be older than first believed.
