Sammie was used for breeding and pony rides (the silly walk-in-circles-all-day thing) for years, and then a worker abused her.... Now she has trust issues, is very head-shy and hard to catch. But as soon as she has a halter on and is on a lead, she's usually OK and leads well. We took her in beginning of September, but sadly, she had to leave her 4-mos old foal behind, and then had to go through the weaning-pains.... There is also the possibility that she is pregnant again for a 2009 foal - I don't know for sure, but there is reason to believe so. Sammie is very sweet and loves treats, but she will require a calm, patient and gentle home that can show her LOVE instead of abuse.... We only took her in so she wouldn't end up at another backyard breeder and/or abusive/neglectful home... This poor girl deserves better - she needs a family who will give her the love, care and time she desperately needs. Quite a few people inquired and wanted Sammie for their children.... Even though she was used for pony-rides in the past, she is not suitable for children at this point. Sammie has been severely abused and needs an adult home with lots of experience, love and patience so she can recover. After some rehab time, she will probably be great with and for kids, but for now she needs a committed adult to help her overcome her abusive past.........
